When I (Jade) started working with postnatal mums as a qualified personal trainer, I saw the stressors of what they were dealing with everyday:
Body confidence issues...
Loss of identity...
Not having any energy....
Lack of support because no-one around them new exactly what they were going through...
And it wasn't until I had my own baby that it really hit home the enormity of the physical and emotional assault your body goes through after pregnancy.
I know I pushed too hard after I had my first child, Savannah.
I could have possibly prolapsed from running too early and a lot of mums don't know that.
So I set out on a mission to learn all I could about pregnancy and postnatal health and fitness so I could create a gentle but transformational program for new and experienced mum's to be at their glowing best.
As synchronicity would have it, that's when I met Kimberley. The "pocket rocket " nutritionist!
Over a hot cuppa, we shared our dreams about creating a vehicle to support women as they move from planning a baby to becoming mothers.
Kimberley had already been working with women in the preconception, pregnancy and postnatal phases sharing her knowledge and love of nutrition and her "inside out" approach to being at your best physically and mentally.
It was the match we were both looking for.
So, Fit Fab Mum™ was born.
And our motto of "Glowing Mamas make Glowing Families".
We focus on educating, inspiring & nurturing mamas mind, body & souls.
We believe that true health starts within and radiates out.
Glowing Mamas understand that being the best versions of themselves physically & emotionally is the greatest gift they can give to their babes.
I learnt this hard fact in pre Fit Fab Mum times as a personal trainer.
I realized quickly that I loved working with mothers because I could see the benefit that it was having for them.
I was going to their home, helping them with their confidence, helping them gain their new mum identity, and more importantly just being there as someone to support them through the changes and look after themselves while the baby is around.
With the baby and/or other children being there, and I could see the rising confidence in them, the shift in energy of how they felt.
And I could see they were uplifted and more motivated and proud of themselves.
I could see the kids joining in as well!
So it had that domino effect.
When you see the mum glowing, the rest of the family glows as well!
That's where our motto "Glowing Mamas make Glowing Families" comes from!
Mum's need that support and guidance to safely work out.
However, abdominal weakness, separation, and pelvic floor dysfunction are common, rarely talked about, and easy to overlook for new mums.
A recent study showed that Around 90% of mums will experience some level of abdominal ('6-pack') separation called Diastasis Recti.
Women face so many body challenges after giving birth, including:
Fatigue, abdominal pain, pelvic pain/weakness, schedule concerns, changes in hormonal environment, social pressure, and ambiguous recovery recommendations.
So many women get discouraged because of the changes they start to see in their body and begin to wonder “what’s the point of exercising anyways? I feel like I'm just making negative progress. It’s not worth it.”
We noticed that much of the information that is available to help either costs a fortune, is simply inaccurate, or provides a list of recommendations without an opportunity for exchange of knowledge, motivation, and support.
Its exhausting trying to find information to trust!
